Why WA is a category of its own

Western Australia carries the highest concentration of rotational workforce aviation in Australia. Iron ore, gold, lithium, nickel, gas and a continuous pipeline of infrastructure work all draw crews from a single dominant origin into aerodromes spread across an enormous area, and much of that demand lands on the same early-morning departure windows.

The practical result is that WA charter is planned around three variables: departure timing out of Perth, aerodrome capability at the site, and how much surge the project generates. Get those right and the program is efficient; get them wrong and you are paying for accommodation, lost shifts or aircraft that cannot use your strip.

    Perth as the primary origin

Perth is the crew source for the majority of WA rotations and it is curfew-free, which genuinely matters when a swing needs a pre-dawn departure to deliver a full first shift. It also has established resource-sector handling, screening capability and a deep regional operator base.

We also arrange regional and interstate origins where a workforce is drawn from regional WA or the east coast, including consolidated multi-stop pickups where a single aircraft collecting two groups beats running two rotations.

    • Perth (PER), dominant origin, no curfew, resource-sector handling
    • Regional WA origins for locally sourced crews
    • Interstate origins for east coast contractor mobilisations
    • Multi-stop consolidation where it is cheaper than two aircraft

    The regions we serve

Each WA region has a different aviation profile, and the differences are operational rather than cosmetic.

    • Pilbara, highest volume, iron ore and gas, established regional airports plus mine strips
    • Goldfields, Kalgoorlie and surrounds, frequent smaller crews and specialist rotations
    • Kimberley, long sectors, remote strips and genuine wet-season serviceability risk
    • Mid West and Gascoyne, mixed mining and infrastructure, varied strip capability
    • South West and Great Southern, shorter sectors, mineral sands and infrastructure work
    • Offshore support origins, crew movements connecting to marine and offshore operations

Aircraft matched to the strip and the swing

WA's aerodrome range means aircraft selection is decided at the destination. Established regional airports support narrowbody jets and the lowest cost per seat available in FIFO work; private and unsealed strips are usually turboprop territory regardless of headcount.

Because Aviall Group sources across operators rather than flying its own fleet, we can present options at different seat counts with the cost-per-seat effect shown, instead of proposing whatever a single operator has spare.

    • Turboprop (30-70 seats), short and unsealed strips, smaller specialist crews
    • Regional jet (70-100 seats), mid-size rotations and longer sectors
    • Narrowbody jet (100-189 seats), full swings and shutdown surges
    • Multi-aircraft waves, large mobilisations and project starts

Programs, shutdowns and how procurement buys

Most WA requirements arrive as either a pattern or a peak. A pattern, fixed days, times, frequency and duration, is priced as a program, giving procurement a defensible rate and the project protected capacity. A peak, shutdown, turnaround, delayed mobilisation or weather recovery, is quoted as ad-hoc rotations layered over that base.

Shutdown season is the constraint that shapes everything. Regional capacity is finite and every operator receives the same requests for the same weeks, so indicative dates shared early are worth more than any rate negotiation conducted late.

    WA FIFO capability

    Curfew-free Perth departures

Pre-dawn rotations timed to deliver a full first shift.

    Remote strip access

Turboprop capability for unsealed and constrained aerodromes.

    Program pricing

Written rates for a rotation pattern, not a single flight.

    Shutdown surge

Additional rotations sourced across the regional operator base.

    Multi-stop pickups

Consolidated origins where they beat running two aircraft.

    FIFO & workforce charter

    Have a FIFO requirement?

    Send us the requirement.

We take both recurring programs and one-off movements. Estimates are enough to start. We come back with aircraft options, capacity and baggage feasibility, and indicative pricing you can put in front of a budget holder or a tender response.

    Recurring charter program

Roster flying, workforce rotations, seasonal campaigns and scheduled corporate shuttles. Send the pattern and we price the program, not just a single flight.

    One-off group movement

A single group flight, a team, a tour, a conference, a delegation, an event crew or a shutdown surge. Five details are usually enough for a workable quote.

    FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, Perth is the dominant origin for our Western Australian work. It is curfew-free, which supports the pre-dawn departures needed to deliver a full first shift on site, and it has established resource-sector handling and screening.
