One hundred passengers puts you squarely in mainline narrowbody territory. A 737-800 or A320 handles the movement with capacity to spare, and the spare seats cost nothing extra because charter is priced per aircraft. The real questions are sector length, how much baggage travels with the group, and whether both airports can take the aircraft.

Seats are typical operator configurations. Charter is priced per aircraft, so a larger cabin does not necessarily mean a higher price.
Sector length is the first filter
For domestic Australian and short regional international sectors, a 737 or A320 does the job. Once you are flying to Asia, the Pacific or beyond, narrowbody range and crew duty limits start to bind, and either a technical stop or a widebody becomes necessary. Long charters also need to account for crew duty periods, a single crew cannot operate indefinitely, and a second crew or a rest stop changes the cost structure.
Baggage decides more 100-pax charters than people expect
One hundred passengers travelling with a suitcase each is routine. One hundred passengers with sporting kit, stage equipment, tooling, or samples for a trade delegation is a hold-volume calculation. Where the hold cannot take it, the options are a larger aircraft, a second aircraft, or freighting the equipment separately. Airfield capability at both ends
Narrowbody jets need adequate runway length, pavement strength, apron space, ground handling, steps or an airbridge, and fuel. Many regional and remote Australian airports meet this; some do not, and some have curfews or restricted operating hours that shape the schedule. Where the destination cannot take a narrowbody, the usual answers are a nearby gateway with a road transfer, or two turboprop rotations.
One aircraft or two?
Splitting 100 passengers across two smaller aircraft is occasionally the right call, where no single aircraft can use the airfield, where the group must arrive in waves, or where availability leaves no alternative. It is almost always more expensive than a single narrowbody and it doubles the coordination, so it is a constraint-driven decision rather than a cost-saving one.
